WHO has leveraged Messenger to outstretch more than 1.3 billion users who can ask their queries related to the novel coronavirus pandemic and will receive quick answers from WHO’s Health Alert. The verified information will be provided via video, audio or text. This interactive service is free to use. However, this service has already been availed by 12 million users on WhatsApp. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support the government across ministries with communications tools and resources to share timely, accurate information on the coronavirus to keep people safe and informed,” Ajit Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director of Facebook, India had said in a statement. It will help health organizations to expand their reach. This initiative taken is very important at this stage when the whole world is suffering from this outbreak. This messenger experience has been created with the support of Sprinkler. Apart from WHO, more than twenty governmental and non-governmental organizations including the Government of India, France, Pakistan, Argentina and the Ministry of National Health Services have also launched their app and portals to spread awareness. The interactive service provided by WHO can be retrieved through WHO’s official page by choosing to send a message or via Messenger link. The Company informed that in the regions that have been hit hard by COVID-19 the messaging through Facebook’s family of apps has been increased by 50 percent.
